TITLE I

Parent Involvement

Parent involvement is an integral part of any Title I program. Parents are encouraged to be partners in helping their children achieve. Each Title I school will hold at least one annual meeting, at a time convenient for the majority of parents at that school, to which all parents will be invited and encouraged to attend. The requirements of Title I and the rights of parents will be emphasized. It is the intention of the School District of Newberry County to provide full opportunity for the participation of parents with limited English Proficiency, and/or disabilities, and parents of migratory children. If special translators are needed, please contact your child’s school in advance so arrangements can be made.

Additionally, each school will hold other meetings at various times to provide extra opportunities for parents to learn more about Title I (Open House, School Improvement Council, etc.). Meetings may include refreshments, transportation, child care, and such services that relate to parental involvement and that encourage or allow participation.
